How to Be Led by the Spirit

 

 

How do we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit? The first thing we do is acknowledge that He is present inside of us and wants to guide us through life. One of the most important things we can do to acknowledge His leadership is to refuse to allow situations to move us. As Believers, we have the ability to bypass natural processes and tap into the supernatural. The Holy Spirit teaches us how to remain victorious in the natural realm.

 

 

 

• Those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God (Romans 8:14-16).

  We must submit to Him, yielding to His leadership.

  The spirit part of man is the part that can be born again (or recreated) (2 Corinthians 5:17).

  Remember, man is a tri-part being—spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

  The soul and spirit are two different entities. You are a spirit being who has a soul and lives in a physical body (Hebrews 4:12).

  The Holy Spirit speaks to the spirit part of us. He dwells within our spirits (Proverbs 20:27; John 14:16, 17).

  We have been freely given the Holy Spirit. He is also called the Spirit of truth, and His job is to guide us through life (John 16:13; 1 Corinthians 2:12).

• How does the Holy Spirit guide you?He will lead you by an inward witness (a nudge or caution within your spirit).

  Quiet your mind and emotions before making decisions. Wait patiently to sense the inward witness.

  Seek God in prayer; pray in tongues.

  He will lead you through an inward voice (your spirit speaks to you based on what it receives from the Holy Spirit).

  Your feelings are the voice of your body.

  Your reasoning is the voice of your soul.

  Your conscience is the voice of your spirit (when you become born again, you can trust your conscience).

• We can train our spirits to hear the Holy Spirit by doing the following things:

  Feeding on the Word of God.

  Walking in love.

  Praying in tongues.

• Safeguards to use when you think you have heard from the Holy Spirit.

  Does it require faith and courage?

  Does it go against the reasoning and rationalizations of the world?

  Does it line up with the Word of God?

  Does it bring peace?
